For Boy Wonder, I portrayed my boyfriend as a Baroque royal draped in silk posed like a Velazquez subject but holding his gaming console. The irony is intentional. Young black men are rarely given the space to explore these dynamic and theatrical concepts, often boxed into a rigid label. My goal was to embody his quiet defiance.
